Our first Priority at the Wandering Elk Cabin is to provide a relaxing comfortable home away from home.
The Village of Pine is 90 minutes NE of the sweltering Phoenix heat. Perched at 6,000 feet, we're cradled in a mountain valley between the Mogollon(MŌ Gee on) Rim and Strawberry Mountain.
Sedona, the Verde Valley Railroad, Monument Valley & Grand Canyon are easy Day Trips from Pine.

We don't have a pool at the Wandering Elk Cabin, but there are exquisite watering holes including East Verde River, Woods Canyon Lake and Blue Ridge Reservoir.
The famed Slide Rock of Sedona is an hour's drive, but it's crowded so we prefer Wine Tours by Raft on the main branch of the Verde River.
As an added bonus, spring melt on the Mogollon (Mō Gee On) Rim creates a raging creek behind the house..

Just South of Pine, The Payson Roundup is North America's oldest continuous Rodeo. Participants and fans from all over the world come to Payson to witness the amazing showmanship.
Gila County is a major driver of Arizona's economy. Phelps Dodge (Now Freeport McMoran) is one of the world's largest copper suppliers.

GREAT ROOM
The Great Room is one of four comfortable gathering spots on the main floor. A-frame windows draw the towering Ponderosa Pines and Junipers indoors. In the colder months everyone gathers around the unique (think the Jetsons) Cobalt & Copper fireplace. During warmer weather, people tend to congregate around a firepit on the private back deck, the quiet, covered patio off the basement or they'll visit near the grill and rocking chairs on the front patio.

We love spending time at the Wandering Elk Cabin in Pine, so we've chosen high quality mattresses and comfortable, breathable bedding for you AND for us. Unfortunately, it's still a "cabin" so, except for a California King bed upstairs, the other beds are either Queen sized, Full or Twins.
FYI - we prefer a Queen!
